So the forecast for rain today was everywhere. I looked out my window in the predawn light and saw many raindrops hanging onto the screen. Puddles on the drive. I gathered my black hooded raincoat, my pink umbrella and my pink vertical striped Wellingtons. I would be well protected. With each step the boot slapped the back of my calf so I tucked my pant legs in to avoid chafing. I rode the bus to North Street then started a short trek to work. A woman at the Police Station said " Those are beautiful boots and they match your umbrella. Very nice" I thanked her then was able to splash in a puddle before entering Battery Park. What a fine snap in my step. Smiles from everyone even the guy walking his dogs. What a wonderful way to start the day. Not one raindrop fell once I left home. These are some boots!
